Age structure

We live in an ageing society. By the end of 2023, 18.3% of the population of Aruba was 65 years and older, up from 3.1% in 1960. The number of persons 65 years and older grew in 60 years from being 1.646 in 1960 to 19.824 in 2023, a growth of 1104.4%.

While between 1960 and 2023, persons 65 years and older grew in numbers and as a percentage of the population, the number of children between 0 and 14 years of age decreased from 22.003 (41.4% of the population) in 1960 to 16.827 (15.8% of the population) in 2023. By the end of 2023, there were more persons 65 years and older in the population of Aruba than there were children between 0 and 14 years of age.
