A multicultural society
In 2022, the population of Aruba was composed of persons from 138 different countries and with 99 different nationalities. Nearly two-thirds (64.4%) of the population of Aruba was born in Aruba or the former Netherlands Antilles, 9.7% was born in Colombia, 5.4% in Venezuela, 4.6% in the Dominican Republic, and 4.5% in the Netherlands.
The majority of the population has the Dutch nationality (78.9%), 6.4% is Colombian, 4.0% is Venezuelan, and 2.8% has the Dominican nationality. Over the course of the last 20 years, there have been some small fluctuations in the country of origin of the population of Aruba, and in the country of nationality. However, during this period of time, between 85.6% and 87.2% of the population was born in Aruba or in the neighboring countries and islands, and an average of nearly 4 out of 5 persons (79.6%) had the Dutch nationality.
