More females than males

By the end of the second quarter of 2023, the population of Aruba counted 50,475  males and 56,852 females, which signifies a surplus of 6,378 females or 89 males for every 100 females.

However, given that generally more baby boys are born than baby girls (189 boys and 157 girls in the second quarter of 2023), there are more boys than girls in the younger age categories up until the age of 29 years, except between the ages of 10 and 14 years where there is a slight surplus of females.

From the age of 30 years onwards, there are more females than males. Immigration and emigration play an important part in the growth of the number of women in Aruba. In the second  quarter of 2023, a total of 1,279  persons immigrated to Aruba, of which 54.7% was male, while on the other hand, 1077 emigrated, of which 50.2% was male. In addition, generally more male deaths are registered per year. In the second quarter of 2023, 373 deaths were registered, of which 51.5% were males.

The differences in the number of males and females are most pronounced in the highest age categories, especially after the age of 85 years, where there are almost 2 females for every male.

The mean age of males is 40.9 years, while the mean age of females is 43.5 years (the mean age of the population is 42.2 years).
