Immigration to Aruba in the last 50 years

As per December 31st 2023, 36.3 percent of the population of Aruba was foreign-born. In total, persons from 146 different countries and 97 different nationalities live in Aruba.

In the last 50 years, the influx of migrants to Aruba has largely been influenced by the economic situation of Aruba and that of the region. Periods of large influxes of migrants are followed by a decline in the number of migrants.

In 2023, a total of 3,132 persons registered at the Civil Registry and Population Office, 13.3 percent more than the average number of immigrants who registered during the previous 10 years. In the first two quarters of 2024, 1,519 persons migrated to Aruba.
The majority of persons migrating to Aruba are foreign-born. By the end of June 2024 foreign-born persons accounted for 80.4 percent of all registrations. Of which, 20.6 percent was born in Aruba or the Netherlands Antilles, 12.8 percent was born in the Netherlands, 21.5 percent in Venezuela and 20.1 percent in Colombia.
