The Statistics Ordinance was published in September of 2007 (AB 1991, GT 44). In the Statstics Ordinance, all regulations applicable to the collection of data for the purpose of compiling statistical information of different topics is stipulated.

Article 1: This article stipulates that when in the Ordinance mention is made of the Minister, it is referred to the Minsiter of Economic Affairs Minister di Asuntonan Economico. When mention is made of a person, all types of persons are included, also legal persons.

Article 2: In this article it is stipulated that the Minister, via the director of the Central Bureau of Statistics, can request information he/she deems necessary to obtain statistical data, including when it refers to previous years. If this information must come from the banking sector, the process of compiling this data must take place via the Central Bank of Aruba.

Article 3: This article stipulates that the Minister can request to have insight into accountancy books and other contents of information. If the minister requests this information from banks, the process must take place via the Central Banks of Aruba.

Article 4: In this article reference is made of the obligations of every other person to provide information requested by the Minister to compile statistical data. This article stipulates that all persons are obliged by means of a National Decree to provide correct information and allow insight into accountancy books and other contents of information. Those persons that because of their position, work or profession are obliged to maintain secrecy, can abstain from providing the information requested, but only when it regards information provided to them while in their funtion.

Article 5: This article stipulates that only personnel appointed by the director of the Central Bureau of Statistics or the Central Bank of Aruba can use information to compile statistical data. In addition, this article stipulates that those in charge of compiling data cannot use the data for other purposes than for the task they were appointed to. The Minister will publish the statistical data in such a manner than individual information cannot be distinguished.

Article 6: By means of a National Decree, and after the Social and Economic Council has been consulted, other measures and rules to execute this Ordinance can be stipulated.

Article 7: In this article, reference is made of the sanctions that can be applied to those that do not provide the information as indicated in article 4. This is punishable by law and those who decline to provide information or do not provide correct information, can be sentenced to prison for a maximum duration of one year or receive a fine of up to a maximum of 5000 Aruban florins.

Article 8: This article stipulates that personnel appointed to compile information and statistical data and who use this information for other means than the ones stipulated by their task, can be sentenced to prison for a maximum duration of three months or receive a fine of up to a maximum of 600 Aruban florins. In addition, those who deliberately misuse the information collected can be sentenced to prison for a maximum duration of six months or receive a fine of up to a maximum of 2000 Aruban florins. If this misuse of information affects one person in particular, those responsible can only be prosecuted when an official complaint is delivered to the authorities.

Articl 9: This articule indicates that if the personnel appointed to compile information and statistical data do not comply with the rule of not publishing statistical data from which individual information can be discerned, they are punishable by law. These persons can be sentenced to prison for a maximum duration of three months or receive a fine of up to a maximum of 600 Aruban florins. In additin, those who deliberately publish data from which individual information canbe discerned, can be sentenced to priosn for a maximum duration of six months or receive a fine of up to a maximum of 2000 Aruba florins. If the misuse of information affects one perons in particular, those responsible can only be prosecuted when an official complaint is delivered to the authorities.

Article 10: This article stipulates that this ordinance can be referred to as the Statistics Ordinance.
